Dungeon Keeper 2 Tip…

If you get a hankering to play Dungeon Keeper 2 again and you’re running Windows 2000 or Windows XP now, do not patch the game. The patch actually introduces a sound stutter and crash bug that wasn’t in the original version. True, you won’t be able to play multiplayer, but who plays DK2 multiplayer any more?

    Wow, thanks for that tip! I played multiplayer exactly once, and it was weird. I don’t know anyone who would have it installed at the same time I would anyway.

    You actually need to install 1.7 in order to be able to play in Windows XP. I tried without patching but the game doesn’t even start.

    Hmmm…that has not been my experience. You probably have an incompatibility that only installing 1.7 can fix. Which means you have to choose between the game running poorly and it not running at all. That really sucks.
