Name That Game 18!

And now we’re back to evil. If you played this game, I feel sorry for you. Though not as sorry as if you’d played Noctropolis.

Mmmmm....tiles!

This was another game that EA foisted off onto us at Origin. I remember poor Janie Kivil getting an irate older man who complained that the last level of the game was impossible. Unfortunately there wasn’t anything she could do for him; that level was completely arcade-based and required the reflexes of a twelve-year-old on speed. Sometimes I think some designers feel like they’ve failed if players can actually complete their game.

Anyway, name and developer, please.

How come I remember Fade to Black being a great game?! .. Well maybe it’s my memory that’s failing on me ..

I remember really enjoying Fade to Black.

I also remember really liking that they picked a title that was visually so similar to Flashback, despite (as I recall) it not being and ‘official sequel’. I think that sort of thing is clever.

Not a patch on the original, though.

Maybe you were a twelve year old on speed at time?? ;)

I also remember fade to black being a great game =)

Then again, I tried it again a couple years ago and couldn’t figure it out at all. Anyway, I remember reading some readme on a cheat to this game where the cheat author complains that the game apparently allocates memory structures in a random pattern, so if you made a cheat you had to make it so that it finds the correct data bits to mess up every time you play the game..

    Maybe good for anti-piracy? :-)

Good grief, EVERYBODY’s played this game. Once again…

And kudos if you guys enjoyed it…I just found it way too difficult to control and had the same “one wrong move and you die” problems Out of This World and Flashback did.

I knew it, too. Me, too! I never even played this game. But I played the previous game and liked it.

I’m hoping that no one here has every played TekWar, a video game built using Capstone’s Build Engine (the game was released in 1995). Yes, the game was based of the novels by William Shatner. And yes, it was absolutely horrendous.

If you’re morbidly curious, there’s a link to the demo on this page (not sure if it runs on XP or not, but I’d be grateful if it didn’t — http://jonof.edgenetwork.org/index.php?p=build.games&game=tekwar
