Critical Failure

I know, it’s been a week since I posted - kind of stupid to post a demo and then disappear off the face of the earth, huh?

Well…there’s no way to say this but to say it.

Last Wednesday I had a heart attack. A small one, but it was big enough. It seems that a combination of birth defects that weakened my heart and my atrocious diet finally conspired to put me in the hospital, which is where I’ve been for the last five days.

Now, I’m fine now. Really, I am. I am not susceptible to another heart attack at this time…but it does hammer home how all my attempts to Put That Freakin’ Sandwich Down were too little and too late. I might have been okay if it weren’t for my propensity to smear saturated fat all over practically everything I eat.

So I’m going to be resting up for the next week or so. I may post a bit, may not - just depends on how I feel. But I had to let you guys know what was going on.

I’m…just glad I didn’t have to leave you guys prematurely.

    Glad to hear you’re alright. As far as diet goes (I don’t know if this will help you), i’m thinking about trying this - http://www.fourhourworkweek.com/blog/2007/04/06/how-to-lose-20-lbs-of-fat-in-30-days-without-doing-any-exercise/

    Take it easy for a while, we’re not going anywhere :-)

    I’ll be prayin’ for ya.

    Keith

    Hope you really okay as you tell us.
    And about diets and stuff… In fact, diets and drugs is the way for lazy ppl, and they dont quite work as they should from various reasons. The best way is exercise though. To show you how serious exercise is, Ill put it like that:
    while(fat) {
    if(exercise) {
    –fat;
    }
    }
    Honestly, personally I never had any problems with my weight, but some of my friends did, and the way that saved them was nothing else than exercise. All these special diets and drugs are “easy ways” for the lazy ones. Dont seek easy ways. There is no way to achieve something like significant fat loss without doing anything. You should work hard to achieve your goals.

    Good luck! I hope you will choose the right way 8)

    It seems that this little piece of code I wrote was corrupted a bit, but Im sure you can understand what was its initial form 8)

    why does it always take something really scary for us to open our eyes and start taking care of ourselves properly? i’m sorry to be the dick, but i really hope you snap out of it. you’ve probably got the same problem as my gf, the “food just tastes too damn good” problem. portioning and regular exercise, dude. and get away from all that fried junk, you damn-well know that stuff isn’t good for you. get started now or we might not see a final version of planitia.

    Good you are all right. Take care!

    Scary! :-/ Glad you’re okay!!

    If I were you, though, I’d just rest well, and not worry too much. Hopefully it’s just a passing thing, just eat healthy and live your life normally, and avoid stress whenever possible.

    Get well soon :D.

    Hard core. You are way to young for that to happen. Since becoming a computer geek my life is more sedentary than I would like but we do make sure to at least do that ‘one brisk walk around the block’ daily. A half hour of fresh air and easy exercise is liberating and a must. Another tip: don’t diet, substitute! eg: potatoes and apple cider vinegar for french fries, yogurt/lemon/garlic dip for dressing, natural flavouring for coffees instead of chocolate/sugar etc., low sodium soy sauce for saltiness, frozen yogurt for ice cream.. I have a ton of them! Just ask! :) Hope you’re feeling better, V.

    I’m glad to hear you survived. I’m sorry to hear that you had to go through it, though. I still plan on being at a GDC in the future and meeting you, as I said, geez, almost 3 years ago: http://gbgames.com/blog/?p=153
