This is a cute little RTS with one sad, fatal design flaw that made it frustrating to play at first. It was also well-known for deserving an R rating for language.

(Remember that you can always click on the image above to get a full-size version. That’ll be helpful in this case, since this game looked like so many others of its day.)

Name and developer, please! If you win, I promise I won’t scream insults at you the next time you fail at something.

As I’ve mentioned before, while we’re not really crunching on Elemental, we are very busy…and the end result is that at the end of the day, I don’t feel like coding or writing blog posts. (My World of Warcraft characters have made great strides, however.)

But if I can’t do anything else, I’ve decided to at least bring back Name That Game! Yes, I know, TinEye.com. Well, here’s the thing – TinEye can only compare the image against others on the internet. So if I take my own unique screenshots (instead of relying on MobyGames) it’ll be a lot harder for TinEye to find a match.

So expect more updates in that regard, at least. I still don’t know where I’m going to find the energy to work on Zeta, though.

Edit: The game was Meat Puppet, by Kronos Digital Entertainment.

I swear, I’ll get back to the normal content of this blog soon…probably after we get to Stardock.

But in the meantime – Name! That! Game!

This game was a Bard’s Tale-style first-person RPG. It was produced on the PC originally instead of being a port, and was a much better game for it.

But it had a unique combat component. Instead of combat being basically a rolling output of text like in Bard’s Tale-style games, once combat was initiated the game turned into Ultima IV!

Name and developer, please! If you win, I’ll tell you the Galactic Secret!

After last week’s depressionfest I figured it was a good idea to feature a light, airy, uplifting game.

During a previous job search I applied at the company that made this game – they were just finishing it up. I was really taken with it; I thought it was colorful and clever. Unfortunately they didn’t hire me and the game came out and died at retail. It probably would have done great as a flash-based online casual game, and I wish someone would make one similar (or tell me that one similar exists).

Name and developer, please! If you win, I’ll show you this really cool Rube Goldberg contraption I made that presses a key on a keyboard every time you drop a seventeen-pound bowling ball down the right hole.
