I've played enough RTSes to get what the point is, but of late I've felt that they just feel like way too much work. I even bought a used copy of c&c3 thinking it might be fun, but ended up cheating my way through it as it felt like... work.

There's The First Decade collection, which has the original Command & Conquer 1 and 2, Red Alert 1 and 2 and Generals and all their expansion packs. I actually bought this because even though I own the original C&C and Red Alert, they are darn hard to get running under Windows nowadays. I figured it was worth $25 to get easy-to-use versions of those and fill the holes in my collection.

Command & Conquer 3 you'll have to buy separately but if you do you'll actually get a code that will allow you to try the (multiplayer-only) Red Alert 3 beta.

Yeah, I didn't get Supreme Commander when it came out because it was Win32 only, but then I didn't hear much praise about the game.

Now the price of it is lower, so I might still get it, but then I keep reading that TA Spring is coming along nicely and actually plays on most contemporary computer systems. I was surprised that some people call it the better version of Supreme Commander, too. Go figure.

But again, C&C:RA3 looks awesome. I haven't played any of the C&C games, and I know I'm missing out. I hear there is a collection of all of the titles in one box?

Hey, Gas Powered had their shot with me. Supreme Commander didn't do it for me at all. It just felt really sterile, not to mention that it wouldn't run well on my box.

"Building bases on the ocean? Amphibious engineers? Transforming mechs? Artillery that shoots soldiers?"

I was going to say "Wait, Total Annihilation?" but the last item was awesome!
